Great News! The Richmond City Department of Recreation, Parks, and Community Facilities has announced that 3 City Park lakes are now open to nonpowered boats. Shields Lake and Swan Lake in Byrd Park and Forest Hill Lake in Forest Hill Park now permit public boating
with a few restrictions: nonpowered watercraft only (canoes, rowboats, sailfish boats, dinghies, and kayaks – inflated tubes and powered craft like jetskis are not allowed); no boats over 13 feet in length; no glass containers; watercraft must be carried to shore (no vehicle trailers); no diving or swimming. Fishing is permitted with the proper state fishing licenses. City lakes are open April 1 to November 30 from sunrise to sunset. More Info.
