Free Museum Bus in Richmond

Our friends at To the Bottom and Back! Bus have announced a new route on Saturdays beginning Saturday February 19th!

To The Bottom and Back announces Saturday museum route beginning Feb 19

It’s To the Museums and Back! and will run from 10 AM to 6 PM each Saturday during the Virginia Museum of FIne Arts exhibition of  “Picasso: Masterpieces from the Musee National Picasso, Paris.”  This is the ONLY east coast stop on the international tour of this collection of 176 works by the famed artist.  Again VMFA brings world-class art to a world class museum right here in Richmond, VIrginia, our hometown and To the Bottom and Back! makes getting around town easy as pie!

This new Saturday bus route links the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and the Virginia Historical Society to Richmond’s other downtown attractions: the American Civil War Center at Historic Tredegar, Shockoe Slip, Main Street Station, the Virginia State Capitol, Richmond Region Visitor Center, Maggie Walker National Historic site, and Monument Avenue.  The 50-minute loop is expected to provide an easy way for visitors and residents to see and visit additional sites and museums with ease and without driving city streets.  Two buses will circulate, with a bus expected at each stop about every 30 minutes.  The green buses with black trim will stop at temporary signs placed along the route.  And, best of all, you can track the bus on your smartphone or online.

This is a pilot route and stops were selected to be within walking distance of most downtown attractions.  Hopes are high that the route will be extended farther east into the east end of the Richmond, into Carytown’s shopping and restaurant district, and beyond the end of the exhibit on May 15th.  When the special museum service ends at 6 PM, visitors may hop aboard the existing evening service along Cary/Main or Broad/Boulevard that runs from 6 PM to 3 AM to take advantage of Richmond’s varied nightlife.

To the Bottom and Back! is a non-profit group backed by local businesses and donations to provide free night-time bus transportation in downtown Richmond to take the worry out of fun!

Richmond’s premier bed and breakfast is just one block off Main and two blocks from Cary!  You can park your car in our off street parking and leave the driving and navigating to To the Bottom and Back!
