Change is coming to the William Miller House Bed and Breakfast in Richmond’s Historic Fan District.
A few changes are being implemented in the dining room. First, the chairs have been re-worked, complete with new webbing, new burlap, new foam, new batting, new muslin and new upholstery. And, new window treatments dress the windows in the dining room – fabric with a lighter background and, of course, a little bit of bling. The bling consists of trim on the swags and jabots with sparkling crystals alternating with rich woven bangles. More is definitely better! And, when the sun catches the crystals, it’s a sight to behold.
In the Regency Room, the brass king bed is being replaced by a vintage upholstered headboard – king, of course. (If you’re interested, the brass bed is now listed on craigslist!) The drape behind the bed has been replaced with a lighter one in a beautiful shade of blue, new custom plaid shades are on the windows, and the ottoman has been re-upholstered to match the headboard and the shades. The bed is now dressed in linens and coverlets from Peacock Alley – for a clean, contemporary, and simple look. All that’s missing at this point is the dust ruffle which will be made from the same fabric as the drape behind the bed. Once that is in place, we’ll get professional photos of the new look. But, for now, here’s a sneak peek!
The Regency Room still has its king bed, with its high-end, pillowtop mattress, flat screen TV with cable, High speed WiFi access, desk area, seating area, individually controlled thermostat, walk-in closet and dresser drawers to stow your belongings, a private en-suite bathroom with a whirlpool tub and separate tiled shower.
