Grace Street Theater hosts VCU Southern Film Festival

Fan District Holiday House Tour December 11 and 12

Richmond’s Fan District is hosting its annual Holiday House Tour on December 11 and 12. During this 48th tour, eight homes near Meadow Park will be open both Saturday and Sunday from 1 PM to 5 PM.

Susan Greenbaum will perform in Meadow Park on (Sunday August 22:postponed) now scheduled for Sunday September 26 between 6 and 8 PM.

This FREE concert was previously scheduled for Sunday August 15th and August 22nd, but predictions of scattered rain and imminent thunderstorms led the Fan District Association to postpone the concert.  Meadow Park, one of the City’s triangular parks, is located in the heart of the Fan District, at the intersections of Park Avenue, Meadow Street, and Stuart Avenue.  Seating is not provided so bring your own lawn chair; picnics are welcome. Adult beverages are not permitted in Richmond’s parks.

History Tour of Fan Alleyways

Sunday’s Valentine Richmond History Center’s walking tour of Fan District Alleys went on despite Richmond’s heat, though it was shortened about 30 minutes. The Fan District is known for its sense of neighborhood, small parks, great dining, and nightlife and this walking tour revealed the history of its architecture and its buildings. Even the Times-Dispatch covered the unique tour wit an article, photos and a video!

The Valentine History Center offers a variety of tours, both walking and bus, throughout Richmond and its neighborhoods, and even Hollywood Cemetery and downtown.  Check the schedule and include one or more in your Richmond visit for an insider’s view.  And, select your room at our Fan District inn for a stay in a lively historic neighborhood to make your Richmond experience complete.

Fan Woman’s Club Kitchen and Garden Tour May 2 2010

The Fan Woman’s Club presents its annual Kitchen and Garden Tour Sunday May 2, 2010 between 1 PM and 6 PM.  Eight  fabulous Fan District private homes are opening their doors and their gardens to tour ticket holders.  Tickets are available on line as well as at a few local commercial establishments.  Ticket info.  Advance tickets may be purchased on-line through 6 PM on Saturday, May 1, 2010.  A preview of homes including photos by local photographer, Tony Giammarino, are available as well as short descriptions of what to expect at each residence. Take a peek, whet your appetite for a glimpse into family life in the Fan, purchase a ticket or two, and make it a great Sunday afternoon.  One of the tour homes is just two blocks away from our B & B.
