New Off-Street Parking For Fan District Inn

As a bed and breakfast inn welcoming travelers to Richmond’s historic Fan District, we have been aware of the parking issues associated with being located in close proximity to Virginia Commonwealth University.  As a result, we have always offered guests free off-street parking in our driveway.   (more…)

Jazz Festival Comes to Richmond

Maymont is the site for the City of Richmond’s Jazz Fest on August 14 and 15. More than 25 artists, including Chaka Khan, Chuck Mangione, and Pancho Sanchez, are scheduled to perform. Festival artists will perform on 2 stages, over 2 days – showcasing primarily jazz with various genres to liven up the mix performed by local, national and international bands and artists. (more…)

Celebrate Black History Month with VCU’s Southern Film Festival in Richmond

Spend the weekend at our Richmond Bed and Breakfast on February 26th and 27th and take advantage of Virginia Commonwealth University’s first ever Southern Film Festival taking place at the Grace Street Theater just a few blocks away.  This event is free and open to the public! Keynote address will be delivered by Emilie Raymond of VCU at 4PM on Friday.  At 5Pm, the 1968 documentary narrated by Bill Cosby will be shown titled “Black History: Lost, Stolen or Strayed.”  Friday’s events conclude with a “Long Walk Home” starring Whoopi Goldberg and Sissay Spacek.  Saturday’s films begin at 10 AM and include “Black Like Me,” “4 Little Girls” directed by Spike Lee, “In The Heat of The Night,” and “American Violet.”

The start time on Saturday gives guests at our historic Fan District inn the opportunity to relax over a hearty gourmet breakfast before strolling over to the Grace Theater at 934 West Grace Street.  This free event is sponsored by Virginia Commonwealth  University!
